Lithium Ion Battery-Powered Strapping Tools: The Next Generation of Power and Performance

The team at Greenbridge is excited to announce the official release of our latest innovation: our trusted B400, B800, and B1000 strapping tools are now available with lithium-ion batteries. This transition marks a significant improvement in battery technology, offering enhanced performance, convenience, and value for our customers.

Whether you’re a longtime user of our lithium polymer-powered tools or are looking to invest in a new strapping tool solution, this upgrade brings several key benefits that will make your work easier and more efficient. Here’s everything you need to know about the switch to lithium-ion batteries and why it’s a game changer for those who rely on battery-powered tools.

Why the Shift from Lithium Polymer to Lithium-Ion Batteries?

Lithium-ion battery technology has advanced significantly in recent years, and after extensive research and testing, we’re confident that this is the best move forward for our customers. Lithium-ion batteries offer several advantages over the lithium polymer batteries we’ve traditionally used in our tools:

      1. Higher Energy Density
Lithium-ion batteries have a higher energy density than their lithium polymer counterparts. This means they can store more power in a smaller, lighter package, without compromising on performance. For our customers, this translates to lighter tools that are easier to handle and operate. Whether you’re working on long strapping jobs or moving between different workstations, the weight and size reduction can make a big difference in reducing operator fatigue.
      1. Longer Runtime
One of the most significant improvements you’ll notice is the longer runtime. Lithium-ion batteries provide more consistent power output, allowing you to complete more operations on a single charge. For example, some tools powered by lithium-ion batteries can perform hundreds of operations before needing a recharge. If you’re frequently strapping pallets, containers, or large loads, this longer runtime will increase productivity and reduce downtime.
      1. Faster Charging
Time is money in any business, and lithium-ion batteries are designed to get you back to work faster. These batteries can be fully recharged in under an hour, compared to the longer charge times needed for other battery types. This fast charging capability helps minimize downtime between jobs, keeping your operations running smoothly and efficiently.
      1. Improved Lifespan
With proper care, lithium-ion batteries have a significantly longer lifespan than lithium polymer batteries. In many cases, they can last five to ten years or longer, making them a more cost-effective investment in the long run. Although lithium-ion batteries may come with a slightly higher upfront cost, their extended lifespan means fewer replacements over time, resulting in long-term savings.
      1. No Memory Effect
Unlike some other battery technologies, lithium-ion batteries do not suffer from the “memory effect,” which can reduce battery capacity over time if recharged prematurely. With lithium-ion, you can recharge your tool at any point without worrying about diminishing the battery’s performance. This feature makes lithium-ion batteries more convenient and user-friendly, especially in demanding work environments.
      1. Enhanced Safety
Safety is a top priority at Greenbridge, and our lithium-ion batteries incorporate advanced safety features. These include battery management systems that help prevent overheating, overcharging, and short circuits. Lithium-ion batteries are also designed with inherently safer chemistry, reducing the risks associated with spills or off-gassing that can occur with other types of batteries. For our customers, this means peace of mind when using the tools in even the most challenging environments.

What Happens to Our Lithium Polymer Models?

For those who currently use our B400, B800, or B1000 tools with lithium polymer batteries, don’t worry — we’ve got you covered. We will continue to offer our lithium polymer tools and batteries for a limited time while our remaining stock lasts. However, as part of this transition, once the stock is depleted, all future models will exclusively feature lithium-ion batteries

This means that while you can still purchase lithium polymer batteries and tools for now, we encourage you to consider upgrading to the new B400i, B800i, and B1000i models. These models retain all the powerful features and performance you’ve come to expect from Greenbridge, but with the added advantages of lithium-ion technology.

      Official Launch at Pack Expo

We’re thrilled to officially launch our new lithium-ion tools at Pack Expo in Chicago November 3-6, 2024. This trade show is one of the largest packaging events of the year, and we’ll be showcasing the B400i, B800i, and B1000i models to the public for the first time. If you’re attending, we’d love for you to stop by our booth (location: W-24104) and experience these new tools firsthand.

Our team will be available to demonstrate the tools and answer any questions you may have about the transition to lithium-ion.
